Week 2

The ANZAC assembly last week was really impressive and the children did a fantastic job of presenting.  Room 6 was responsible for setting out the crosses.  A big thanks to those who helped assemble them.

I hope that you had an enjoyable long weekend and welcome back to a short week.

Robyn Holt - maths advisor will be working with me and groups of stdduring maths sessions over the next few weeks and we have Ms Rarere (CT) observing and helping out for 2 days.

We have an orienteering practise on Wednesday afternoon and the Duathlon Champs mid-morning on Friday.

All children should have their Term 2 Goals on their Blogs (there are also some impressive presentations on ANZAC and WW! in progress). Make sure that you discuss these goals with them.

As well as their goals, we are learning to use a 'Growth Mindset' to think about and discuss our learning. The GREEN is what we are aiming for!

FIXED
GROWTH
·      I’m not that good at this.
·      What am I missing?
·      I’m awesome at this.
·      I’m on the right track.
·      I give up.
·      I’ll use some of the strategies we’ve learned.
·      It’s good enough.
·      Is this really my best work?
·      I just don’t have a math brain and I never will.
·      I’m going to train my brain in math.
·      Plan A didn’t work.

·      Good thing the alphabet has 25 more letters.

For Week 2. . .

In maths we are learning to:better understand fractions as well as address concepts in knowledge.

In language we are looking at identifying parts of speech which we will use in our poetic writing.

TERM 2

Welcome back to school for Term 2 2015.  It sounds like the Room Six children had lots of interesting experiences in the holidays and they have returned full of enthusiasm.

Make sure that you keep an eye on 'Upcoming School Events' and if you haven't 'Followed by Email' yet, click on the link for the Class Blog as well as your child's Blog.

USO RELAY

A determined group of Room 6 children spent last Saturday taking part in the 6 hour USO Relay Bike Ride.  This meant that each of the six children had to complete about 28 kilometres each.  Ours was the only school team so we had to compete against adult teams.  We finished mid-field with a total of approximately 150 kilometres.  Fantastic job!
